The Position

Technology Manager (Ceramics - West Asia)

Job Summary

Key responsibilities:

  • Senior member of the West Asia Ceramics Commercial team - Support and drive business ambition via technology and customer technical support.

  • Support sales in defining value creation model/s for customer via product application uniqueness, new product development OR overall application specificity ( e.g re-formulation). 

    • The role actively support sales team in value selling concept, such that, customer can count on perceived value of Imerys offer, than just price of product.

    • Simply put, support sales for solution selling.   

  • Define and lead the technical support for customers, production units, and development projects for West Asia (primarily India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka).

  • Lead self and develop others (coach others) in  the technical support team and the lab.

  • Travel within west asia  to meet customers ( customer senior managers. MD, CEO etc) and support selling technical advancement from Imerys.

  • Manage development projects (product innovation) and New product developments.

Project Management:

  • To be an active member of the Technical Support team, visiting customers when necessary.

  • To define and organize the Technical Support team on different aspects

    • Identify the necessary resources

    • Train/recruit staff depending on workload – application interest

    • Define the equipment’s – procedures and facilities in complement with existing ones

    • Support the routine management of laboratory functions.

  • To organize the customer technical support in coordination with the sales team

  • Understand the market attractiveness by application in terms of actors– size – technical challenges – competition and product value. Prioritise the actions to better address each application.

  • Be in charge of the new product development pipe in collaboration with the marketing/sales/production team

  • Give technical expertise on mineral and applications to support the development projects

  • Interpret and report the findings of technical work and communicate at required levels

  • Understand customer challenges and pain points and be proactive in devising solutions

  • Have a strong safety culture and ensure that relevant company HSE procedures are followed within the department

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor in Engineering / Master, qualification in materials science, industrial minerals, refractories, ceramics or ceramics-related science. Diploma with significant experience will be considered.   

  • This position required +20 years of experience.. However, exceptional talented individual with >10 yrs can be considered for interviews.

  • Wide experience in ceramics industry-related laboratory, R&D, Technical roles (ideally whiteware ceramics manufacturer, especially Sanitaryware application). Technical Support experience will be a plus.

  • 5 years in leading technical/technology team (Manager level) is a plus.
